Be Still

I think it must be an American trait to always wish to rush in and do something when we think we perceive trouble nearby or that suddenly the situation we find ourselves in seems intolerable.  We just want movement, action or to just change things up and especially to go dashing madly off in all directions.

If there is real imminent danger, then immediate and deliberate movement is necessary.  But often what is needed is to hesitate and observe before proceeding. Ponder and pray.

Waiting and also to just keep breathing can be difficult.   Very difficult.  It may also be the beginning of the wisdom and faith to know when NOT to act.

Fielding's Advice

Repeat aloud:
Writing a manuscript of good quality is work.
I should be paid for my work.
